The Safe Food for Growth (SAFEGRO) project welcomes the establishment of the Food Safety group, a multidisciplinary health partnership that aims to address the food safety challenges and needs of all stakeholders. The first technical meeting, coordinated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development with the International Livestock Research Institute, was held on September 28 in Hanoi.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Do Thanh Lam, Project Director of SAFEGRO, praised this as a good initiative. Strengthening domestic and international cooperation in the field of food safety is very important.
SAFEGRO with the financial support from Global Affair Canada is implemented by Alinea International in partnership with the University of Guelph, and is partnered with the agriculture, industry, and health ministries in Vietnam.
“SAFEGRO commits to support developing and enforcing scientific and risk-based food safety regulations; while at the same time aiming towards raising consumers’ awareness of food safety, promoting increased demand for safe and affordable agri-food in Vietnam, and advocating gender mainstreaming throughout its programming” Lam said.
