This morning, June 4, the SAFEGRO team fired the opening shot to launch a series of handover events of its model initiatives to partners in Hanoi.
The program began with the official Handover Ceremony of the Safe and Sustainable Vegetable Value Chain Model to the Van Duc Cooperative, and will continue tomorrow with the markets of Thuong Thanh and Kim Quan, followed by the Hoang Long Cooperative.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Nguyen Tien Hoang, Deputy Head of the Agriculture and Environment Division of Gia Lam District, stated:
“We will continue to accompany and supervise the proper use of the equipment sponsored by SAFEGRO, as well as promote the application of knowledge and best practices outlined in the Guidelines for Safe and Sustainable Vegetable Production – a valuable document developed by SAFEGRO – to other cooperatives across the district.”
Mr. Nguyen Van Minh, Director of Van Duc Cooperative, shared that while SAFEGRO’s messages on the backdrop are short and simple, they carry deep meaning:
“From raising awareness and improving farming practices among local producers, to promoting gender equality within families and communities – the impacts are profound. I believe that our sense of responsibility as producers toward the wider community has truly evolved. This is extremely meaningful – not only environmentally, but also socially and economically. Through SAFEGRO, we have gained more partners, more knowledge, and greater opportunities to expand the market for safe vegetables.”
Ms. Le Thi Kim Oanh, Deputy Head of the Hanoi Sub-Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, highly appreciated SAFEGRO’s practical contributions – especially its use of real-world experience from the Van Duc model to develop and publish the Guidelines for Safe and Sustainable Vegetable Production.
“This guide is very helpful; it clearly outlines what needs to be done and how to do it, helping producers and processors apply it effectively in their daily operations,” she said.
Ms. Oanh also expressed her hope that SAFEGRO’s successful models will be replicated in many other areas across Hanoi.
Today’s handover ceremony marks not only the conclusion of a significant phase of support, but also the beginning of a new journey – a phase where Van Duc Cooperative will take the lead in maintaining, advancing, and spreading the achievements gained.
SAFEGRO is confident that, with the Cooperative’s proactive spirit, the safe and sustainable vegetable value chain model in Van Duc will continue to thrive – serving as a replicable model for many other localities in the future.
